Apple Pay: iPhone 6's Flagship Feature
iPhone 6, Apple's newly released smartphone, features Apple Pay, which combines the existing passbook feature of the company with Touch ID. According to USA Today, not only iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will get Apple Pay, but also Apple Pay is now available on Apple's new iPads - Mini 3 and Air 2.
Apple Pay can be used to make purchases through apps with the use of the same stored card details with Touch ID used for authenticating the transaction. Through this iPhone 6's flagship feature, users can pay for their goods in over 200,000 shops just by tapping on their device through its NFC chip built into iPhone 6. Unfortunately, PC Pro UK cleared that people outside the United States will have to wait next year to use Apple Pay.
For users to keep the transactions securer, Apple makes use of a method called tokenization, which prevents actual credit card numbers from being sent on cloud. In a post of Mac Rumors, Tim Cook, Apple CEO, stated that Apple Pay will forever change the way people buy things.
Apple Pay works simple. As demonstrated during the keynote event of Apple, making a transaction with the use of the service at a particular store requires only one step. Users only have to hold an iPhone near a payment terminal of the merchant included in the list of participating stores while the finger is on the Touch ID. Payments online in apps are reduced through a single tap with Apple Pay, which is verified by Touch ID.
Prior to the release of Apple Pay, Apple aims to replace the wallet with Apple Pay. This one-step process prevents everyone from needing to dig through a wallet or purse to seek for credit cards. Since it is built on the existing NFC technology, Apple Pay can work in any retail store wherein NFC-based contactless payments can be accepted.
Many people are now enjoying Apple Pay. A lot of iPhone 6 users described it as remarkably smooth and the best payment system. Its Touch ID is also a high-end technology, which offers a real sense of security that users can benefit from.
