Samsung, Barnes & Noble Takes-Off Larger Screen Nook Tablet
Samsung, together with bookseller Barnes & Noble are presenting a larger screen Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablet two months following the announcement of the first version of the first co-branded tablet.
The companies said that they would join forces on the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook in June, as per ABC News. The hardware is provided by Samsung whole the customized Nook software comes from Barnes & Noble. The 7-inch screen Galaxy Tab 4 Nook was released in August. The device is priced at $170.
At present, the Android tablet features a 10.1-inch screen and is priced at $299.99. Aside from receiving four bestselling e-books, the customers will also get an episode of "The Newsroom", "The Octonauts", and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." More to that, customers will select up to four 14-day free trial subscriptions from a selection of 15 magazines, according to CNET.
The Nook demonstrates satisfactory performance in various tasks such as playing games, reading books and magazines, and watching TV shows and movies. The device is also Wi-Fi enabled, making it very convenient to use anywhere with Wi-Fi access. Alongside a 16GB of storage, which can be increased up to 64GB via microSD, the co-branded tablet also comes with a 3-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
Barnes & Noble CEO Michael Huseby said in a statement in PC Mag that they are presenting buyers a wide range of choices to choose from, especially that the holiday is fast approaching. "With the launch of the new large screen Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook, we have a fantastic lineup of devices for our customers to choose from as we head into the holiday gifting season," he said. "Customers are telling us that they love the reading and entertainment experience of our new 7-in Samsung Nook. And we're certain that the addition of the stunning 10-in model will ensure that there's a perfect device for everyone in the family," the CEO added.
President of Samsung Electronics America also said in a statement in PC Mag his thoughts on the device. "The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook combines an award-winning reading experience with leading-edge technology to offer consumers an immersive way to enjoy all types of content," he said.
The device also provides users the access to both Google's Play store for Android apps as well as Nook app store. Galaxy Note 4 Nook divides the market, along with Apple's iPad, Sony Xperia tab, Microsoft Surface Pro, and Amazon's Kindle Fire.
Samsung Galaxy 4 Nook tablets, in both 7-inch and 10.1-inch, are available in more than 650 Barnes & Noble retail stores as well as in nook.com and bn.com.
