Frozen 2: Frozen Fever, the 2D Animated Short Sequel to 2013's 3D Frozen, Coming this Spring

Walt Disney's Frozen 2, or to be exact "Frozen Fever," is the upcoming animated 2D short sequel to the 2013 box-office hit 3D computer-animated musical film "Frozen" inspired by the classic Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Snow Queen." The short Frozen 2 movie is confirmed for release in spring of 2015. Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad will reprise their roles as Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf, respectively. Peter Del Vecho and John Lasseter will return as producers and so will Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck as co-directors. Husband and wife Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who composed Frozen's 2013 Academy Award-winning "Let It Go" theme song, will be writing a new song for Frozen 2.

Regarding the short sequel film to this year's winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, executive producer John Lasseter, at the end of ABC's September 2 TV special, The Story of Frozen: Making A Disney Animated Classic, told audience: "We are bringing back the characters from Frozen. We are doing a short. It will have a new song. Basically, the whole crew is returning. It is absolutely hilarious." According to a report from Marc Graser of Variety, "In the short, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk. Olaf, the snowman, also will make an appearance in the toon."

Frozen earned $1.274 billion worldwide at the box office, making it one of the studio's all-time biggest smash hits. The fourth season of the fantasy drama "Once Upon a Time" which airs on the Disney-owned ABC network now also features a Frozen-inspired story line. A sing-along version of Frozen has been announced for release this November in DVD and Blu-ray.
