'Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day' Review: Experience a Day of Mishaps and Unfortunate Events
"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is a Walt Disney adaptation of a children's book that is surprisingly insightful, entertaining and also very intelligent—it will certainly provide entertainment for kids and adults alike. Interestingly, many "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" reviews reveal that the film is a great example of a movie that skillfully achieves success for what it does not contain, and for the choices that the filmmaker does not make.
Starring Jennifer Garner, Megan Mullaly, Kerris Dorsey, Dylan Minnette, Jennifer Coolidge, Bella Thorne, Ed Oxenbould and Steve Carell, all kinds of viewers will certainly find this movie very entertaining and fun.
"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is a comedy that follows the character of 11-year-old Alexander, who is portrayed by Ed Oxenbould, during the most terrible, horrible and no good day of his life. The day starts with a piece of chewing gum stuck in his hair, and proceeds to only get worse, as one disaster is followed by another.
However, when Alexander tells his family about the misfortunes of his day, he is given a sympathetic response, and he then starts to wonder if terrible things are only happening to him. He soon finds that he is not alone, when his mother, father, sister and brother all find themselves also experiencing a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day! Even though the mishaps that happen to every member of the family are presented as part of the plot, the movie remains centered on Oxenbould's Alexander.
"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" has already earned the respect and laughter of many reviewers and movie-goers for not merely using its chaotic storyline for ridicule and mockery; instead, the filmmaker uses the film's comedic devices for emphatic humor. The movie is refreshingly progressive and relentlessly upbeat—especially in the way that it presents modern family life. While the duration of the film is very short, the scenes are full of fantastic humor and wonder, reaffirming the adage, "quality over quantity."
"Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" is a winning comedy feature that is suitable for all families. Family viewers will surely appreciate the presentation of a likable and functional family unit that is simply tested by a series of unfortunate events that occur on a single day in their lives.
