Phil Wickham's "This is Amazing Grace" Named BMI Christian Awards Song of the Year
Phil Wickham's "This Is Amazing Grace" garnered the "Song of the Year" honor at last week's BMI Christian Awards. "This Is Amazing Grace," off of his latest album The Ascension, gave Wickham his first career No. 1 single, claiming the top spot on Billboard's National Christian Audience Chart for 13 consecutive weeks. The song has continually stood in the top 20 of Christian Digital Track Sales, and is currently resting at No. 2 on the CCLI Top Songs Chart. The annual awards ceremony at BMI's Nashville offices recognized the past year's most-performed Christian rock, contemporary, inspirational and southern gospel songs played on Christian radio. "I'm so honored to have been a part of the story of 'This Is Amazing Grace,' and proud to share the win with my longtime friend and producer, Pete Kipley," said Wickham. "A massive thanks to the other writers, Jeremy Riddle and Josh Farro, without whom this song would not exist, as well as my label, publisher, management and the whole team for believing so much in this song. The BMI Awards were really a special night to celebrate what God is so graciously doing!"
Wickham's latest single "Glory" is currently in the top 20 at Christian AC Radio, and he is in the studio working on a new project due out in early 2016. This fall, Wickham will be a special guest on MercyMe's national "Greater Than" Tour, with dates to be announced.
