Joel Osteen Demonstrates the Power of Two Words Via His New Book
Megachurch pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston and popular author, Joel Osteen has released a brand new book. Called The Power of I Am: Two Words that will Change Your Life Today(FaithWords/Hachette Book Group), the book aims to show the way the words "I Am" can help you find confidence and success.
"When I spoke this message a few years ago, I remember that this concept was very well-received," says Osteen, who inspires more than 43,000 people each week at America's largest church.
The book is filled with life changing messages, including the secret that Oprah says changed her life-that the way we speak about ourselves determines our destiny. "The principle is that whatever follows 'I am' will eventually find you," Osteen says. "You're handing it an invitation, opening the door and giving it permission to be in your life."
In the end, negative self-talk does way more harm than good, Osteen says.
"People don't realize that when they say negative things like 'I am unattractive' or 'I am slow,' this does negative things to their future and their self-image," he says
"I was talking to someone the other night who said she used to say 'I'm so tired' all the time," he says. "You're equipped with the ability to turn this around. It's not magic, but it's a way of life. It's moving away from being negative toward yourself."
Osteen says it's best to work on your self-transformation step-by-step.
"I advise people to take it a day at a time," he says. "Little by little you'll catch yourself in a negative cycle and you develop better ways to be positive."
Osteen, the author of seven No. 1 bestsellers, says he enjoys writing and hopes his books inspire people and motivate them to rise higher.
