American Idol's Taylor Hicks Will be Busy This Christmas Promoting His Faith-Inspired "Silent Night"

American Idol alum Taylor Hicks is busy this Christmas. He has recently recorded the Christmas hymn "Silent Night," a choice influenced by Hicks' background as a Christian attending church at Christmas time."I remember going to church on Christmas Eve and singing 'Silent Night' would just give me chills... All the lights in the church went dark. We would all sing softly together as we lit candles down the aisle. With the Nativity on the altar and being surrounded by my closest friends and family, it really made me feel the true spirit of Christmas - and still does to this day," Taylor said.
Moreover, the American Idol winner will be celebrating the holiday season with a pair of televised appearances that will carry him all over the United States from California to Utah as he spreads holiday cheer to audiences around the world.
Coming up this Friday, the "American Idol" winner will be participating in The 84th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade, the largest Christmas celebration in America, which will air on the CW Network at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST featuring the "Magic Of Christmas!" theme with Grand Marshals Penn & Teller of the hit series "Fool Us." The parade will also include special reality-defying magic tricks by Jonathan Pendragon, Michael Turco, Michael Grandinetti, Titou and Nathan Phan from the CW's hit series "Masters of Illusion" with co-hosts Elizabeth Stanton, Garrett Clayton and Montel Williams. A true Hollywood tradition, this year's parade includes more than 4,000 participants with larger than life inflatable character balloons and celebrity filled cars making the much heralded trek down Hollywood Boulevard. Long-time parade partner Hallmark Channel will also air multiple runs beginning December 19 on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. Additionally, the parade will also air to more than one million American servicemen and women worldwide on American Forces Network.
Hicks will also be featured as part of the 24th Annual Deer Valley® Celebrity SkiFest, which took place December 4-7 at the Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT. The star-studded annual event pairs U.S. Olympic ski legends with celebrities for a weekend of skiing, live music and fundraising for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s Waterkeeper Alliance, an organization devoted to protecting fresh water resources around the world.
Celebrity attendees included Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Dierks Bentley, Amy Brenneman, Dylan Bruno, Nicole Curtis, Mark Feuerstein, Hill Harper, Rachael Harris, Taylor Hicks, Cheryl Hines, hypnotist Chris Jones, Chad Lowe, Diane Neal, Perrey Reeves, J.B. Smoove, and more. The stars were joined by U.S. Olympic medalists Phil and Steve Mahre, Tommy Moe, and Heidi Voelker.
Taylor helped Dierks Bentley on stage with some scorching country harmonica, serenaded skiers on the slopes with JB Smoove, and cut up with the Crabwizard Captain Keith Colburn for a fun-filled day for a good cause. Hicks will appear on the one-hour CBS Sports special telecast, which will air on Sunday, December 13 at 5pm EST / 4pm CST.
