Listen to Kesha Sing "Amazing Grace" Amidst Her Legal Battles

Rapper and singer Kesha is in the midst of a lawsuit against her producer Dr. Luke. The lawsuit has prevented her to release any new music. But this has not stopped Kesha from delivering a soulful rendition of John Newton's hymn "Amazing Grace."
Kesha posted on Instagram that her "nerves are going nuts" in anticipation of the ruling. She then recorded a video of herself expressing deep love for her loyal fans and musing, "I can't put out new music but I can sing a little of someone else's songs or something that exists, so what should I sing?" before launching into a breathy, bed-headed version of "Amazing Grace."
Kesha was signed by Dr. Luke to his label Kemosabe Records, at age 18 in 2005. As a result, Kesha scored two number-one singles, "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R", and a string of top-ten hits singles from the album and its re-release. At the same time, she continued to write songs for other artists, including "Till the World Ends" for Britney Spears. Warrior, her second studio album, was released in December 2012, spawning Kesha's eighth top-ten single with "Die Young".
However, iIn October 2014, Kesha sued producer Dr. Luke for alleged sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, emotional abuse, and violation of California business practices over their 10 years of working together. She claimed that Dr. Luke repeatedly drugged her, with and without her consent, and that his abuse caused her eating disorder. Kesha asked the court to break her contract with Dr. Luke as well.
In response, Dr. Luke filed a countersuit against Kesha for defamation, accusing her, her mother, and her management of fabricating the abuse claims in order to break her contract with him.
Kesha was expected to hear the outcome this Tuesday, but the court proceeding was postponed. She tweeted she has to wait until Feb. 19 to get a hearing due to her "travel problems with the weather." Fans had been posting #FreeKesha as a rallying cry to protest in front of the New York State Supreme Courthouse during the Tuesday decision -- a movement they'll have to keep going for another few weeks.
