The Voice's Jordan Smith's "Something Beautiful" Debuts at #2

The Voice's winner Jordan Smith who is also a committed Christian recently released his first album Something Beautiful. It debuted on the Billboard album chart at #2. Ironically, Smith's album is right behind former Voice coach Gwen Stefani's latest release. Something Beautiful also went to #1 on the iTunes and Amazon album charts.
Something Beautiful moved 54,000 units in its first week of release. It is by far the highest first-week album sales for any Voice winner, too. The previous record was held by Season 3 champ Cassadee Pope, whose debut album Frame by Frame sold 43,000 copies in its first week, followed by Season 4 winner Danielle Bradbery, whose self-titled debut raked in a first-week total of 41,000. The Voice's only other big first-week sales story, aside from Pope and Bradbery, is Season 3 top six finalist Melanie Martinez, whose Cry Baby (on Atlantic Records) sold 41,000 when it was released in August last year.
On December 15, 2015, Jordan Smith was crowned the winner of season nine of The Voice.Three days later, Smith told Entertainment Weekly, "I'm very, very adamant about getting my music out there as quickly as possible and the label is with me in that effort." Thus far, Smith has already scored 3 #1 Billboard Hot Christian Songs hits.
Smith worked with producers David Foster and Stephan Moccio for this new album. Something Beautiful was released on March 18, 2016, featuring 12 songs comprising a mix of covers and original material. Two additional tracks are included on the Walmart edition. iTunes' editorial staff praised Smith's "fearless, confident singing, which elevates even the simplest phrases into stirring statements." AllMusic noted Smith's "relentless good cheer. He's just ... happy to be singing," and the listener's enjoyment "depends entirely on how ingratiating you find that starry-eyed optimism."
