Rance Allen Group Will Perform on BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel”
The legendary Rance Allen Group will perform on BET's "Bobby Jones Gospel" program for the last time this Sunday, June 5th @9:00 AM EST. The dynamic group performs the retro-soul-flavored title song from its latest album "Celebrate" (Tyscot Records) and also the rousing "Sounds Like Rain" track from the same project on the show that celebrated its 35th anniversary this year. The group is currently in the studio putting the final touches on its next album, a live concert project scheduled to release later this year.
The Monroe, MI-reared group now resides in Toledo, OH where Bishop Rance Allen has served as pastor of New Bethel Church since 1985. He formed the group in 1970 with his brothers Steve and Tom. Over the course of their influential musical career, the group has recorded for the Gospel Truth/Stax, Capitol, Myrrh and Bellmark recording labels prior to signing with Tyscot Records in 2002. The trio is best known for gospel radio classics such as "Something About the Name Jesus," "Miracle Worker," "I Belong To You" and "U That I Trust."
