'Gotham' FOX New Batman Prequel Series Starring Ben Mackenzie, Watch Extended Trailer Here (Video)
FOX has released an extended trailer for their highly anticipated new series "Gotham". The Batman prequel teaser starring Ben McKenzie premiered during Monday's season premiere of FOX comeback series "24: Live Another Day." An official time slot and premiere date have yet to be announced. Watch the "Gotham" trailer above.
"Gotham" stars (Southland, O.C.) McKenzie as the commissioner-to-be James Gordon in the drama that includes many of the big Batman characters including a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and more. Dona Logue co-stars as Detective Harvey Bullock and Jada Pinkett Smith plays villain Fish Mooney as the series looks to tell a story that has not been told yet.
Official synopsis: A new recruit in Captain Sarah Essen's Gotham City Police Department, Detective James Gordon is paired with Harvey Bullock to solve one of Gotham's most high-profile cases ever: the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. During his investigation, Gordon meets the Waynes' son, Bruce, now in the care of his butler Alfred, which further compels Gordon to catch the killer. Along the way, Gordon must confront gang boss Fish Mooney, as well as many of Gotham's future villains, such as Selina Kyle and Oswald Cobblepot. Eventually, Gordon is forced to form an unlikely friendship with Bruce, one that will help shape the boy's future in becoming the Dark Knight.
The pilot of "Gotham" was put out by Warner Bros. Television, with The Mentalist's Bruno Heller writing the pilot, and Emmy nominee Danny Cannon (CSI, Nikita) is director and executive produced. John Stephens will also serve as an exec producer on the series.
"Gotham" received a series order from Fox on May 5, 2014 and is scheduled to premiere in the 2014-15 television season.
