Justin Bieber is Not Collaborating with Hillsong UNITED
Pop singer Justin Bieber has had a great relationship with Hillsong Church. Not only does Bieber attend the church's campus in New York City from time to time, he has been baptized by the campus' senior pastor Carl Lentz. Over the last couple of years, Bieber has also been seen worshipping at the megachurch's annual conference in Sydney, Australia. This has started rumors that Bieber is enlisting the church's worship team, Hillsong UNITED to sing with him on record.
In a Daily Mail report, Bieber was asked about his potential plans to collaborate with musicians from church. "Nope," Bieber said simply. "I'm not working with any artists at the church."
When asked if he was interested in starting a church of his own, Bieber responded, "No. Nah. Nope."
Neither is the "Sorry" singer starting his own church, but he has been vocal about wanting to grow in his Christian faith. In a previous interview with Complex, Bieber said he is striving to be more like Jesus Christ. "I just wanna honestly live like Jesus. Not be Jesus. ... I don't want that to come across weird," he said in 2015. "He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind."
While the singer has canceled the remainder of his "Purpose" world tour, he previously spoke about how God was using him while he performs. "I am so glad God is able to move even when people are blind to it.. I am the one on that stage but I am nothing without a light shining through," Bieber previously wrote in an Instagram post. "I'm such an average, ordinary person that doesn't deserve the praise. I believe it belongs to my God!"
