Pitbull Uses Private Plane To Fly Puerto Rican Cancer Patients To U.S. For Chemo

As hurricanes like Harvey and Maria have devastated parts of the U.S. and Puerto Rico thank goodness there seems to be a never-ending line of musicians ready to help out in any way possible. This week Pitbull, a rapper whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, has offered the use of his private plane to transport some of Puerto Rico's sickest residents. Pitbull isn't one to really call attention to his own good deeds, but in this case, a public thanks seemed appropriate.
Puerto Rican Congresswoman Jenniffer González thanked the singer on Twitter Tuesday saying,
"Thank you @pitbull for lending your private plane to move cancer patients from PR to USA so that they can get chemo,"
Pitbull, always a class act, believes that his effort to help Puerto Rican cancer patients was the least he could do."Thank God we're blessed to help. Just doing my part," he said in a statement.
This is not the first time that Pitbull has gone above and beyond to help people in need. In 2013, he opened The Sports Leadership And Management Academy, a public charter school in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood. He has already submitted plans to open a second school next year in Baltimore and as of now, it looks like it could be opening its' doors next September. SLAM charter schools are located in many cities across the U.S. and they have a 96% graduation rate. They seem to serve larger cities where children are more likely to fall through the cracks pretty well.
Isn't it great to see artists like Pitbull using their resources to help in such monumental ways? Hopefully, other performers with access to major resources will follow Pitbull's lead and find other ways to help those that are in dire need.
