Smalltown Poets Release New Single "Love Is the Ocean"

The musical journey for Smalltown Poets continues with the band's recent release of a new single, 'Love Is the Ocean.' However, striking the right tone in promoting the new release is challenging in the midst of the COVID-10 pandemic. Says guitarist Kevin Breuner, "Things just don't feel normal right now. We are excited about the new music and feel that you are all on this journey with us, so to not say anything and quietly release a new song just wouldn't feel right."
Keyboardist Danny Stephens, who teamed up with lead singer Michael Johnston to write lyrics for 'Love Is The Ocean,' adds, "This song has been in the works for some time, but feels almost as if it was written to speak to this moment we find ourselves in right now, as a society. It has strong themes of looking for answers, fearing the forces that seem against us, hoping to find the right path forward, and remembering that in all things love is always a productive option to get us where we need to be."
Producer Noah Stephens (who also tours as second guitarist with the band) was once again at the helm, assembling the track from sessions recorded at studios in Asheville North Carolina, Camas Washington, Atlanta Georgia, and central Florida.
The band also gives assurances that there's more to come. "More recorded music in on the way, and we're diving into some new sounds and themes, as we continue to grow as musicians and songwriters, while continuing to write from the foundations of our faith."
Smalltown Poets is made up of high school friends Michael Johnston, Danny Stephens and Byron Goggin, along with Nashville musicians Kevin Breuner and Miguel DeJesus. They've had numerous Top 5 radio hits, including the song "If You Let Me Love You" that went to #1 on the Billboard CHR Radio Chart, and "Monkey's Paw" hitting #1 on Christian Rock Radio. Now, after 8 studio albums, 2 Grammy nominations, 7 Dove Award nominations, a Billboard Music Video Award, and hundreds of concert performances across the United States and internationally, new original music continues to shape their story.
