Preview of America’s Got Talent Season 9: Heidi Klum and Mel B Back for Their 2nd Season
The 9th season of America's Got Talent is back with more acts than you may have never seen yet! The reality competition aired its first audition episode at NBC on May 27 which ranked 1st in its timeslot, nightly and weekly rank with over 12 million viewers based on US Nielsen ratings.
The anticipation of the audience rose as the judges return for their perspective seasons such as Howie Mandel who returned for his 5th season, Howard Stern for his 3rd and both Mel B and Heidi Klum for their 2nd season. Also, Nick Cannon will be hosting the show for the sixth time.
Along with the new season comes some new twist where the bootcamp round of auditions, this time, will be held in New York with live studio audience and the "golden buzzer". The golden buzzer was also new for this year's Britain's Got Talent, the difference is that, BGT's golden buzzer is used to send an act straight to the live shows while for AGT is to send an act only to the next round of the competition. So far, only 2 of the judges (Stern and Mandel) have yet to use the golden buzzer.
On May 27's The Today Show, Mandel announced that AGT will send 48 acts through the live shows, 47 will be picked by the judges and one will be chosen by the audience's vote. Audition episode 6 was aired on the 1st of July and the "Best of Auditions" episode will be aired on July 15.
NBC announced that the live shows will begin on July 29.
