He is taken back to his home town by immigration agent J. Martin "Marty" Bellamy (Omar Epps) after flouting orders and taking him back to his now old parents Henry (Kurtwood Smith) and Lucille (Frances Fisher). His return rises suspicion among the residence and Jacob's Uncle who is also the Sheriff of Arcadia, his daughter too who is the towns doctor making them want to know more about the story of how their wife/mother drowned while trying to save Jacob.
