'America's Got Talent' Gets Renewed for Season 10 by NBC Along with 'Last Comic Standing' & 'American Ninja Warrior'
NBC announced the renewal of several shows at the executive session at the Television Critics Association press tour in Beverly Hills on Sunday. "America's Got Talent" will be back for Season 10, "Last Comic Standing" will return for Season 9 and "American Ninja Warrior" is a go for Season 4.
"The renewal of these three series is evidence that we continue to hit our stride in delivering quality entertainment to a broad viewership," said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night at NBC Entertainment. "All of the hardworking talented people on these shows - both behind and in front of the camera - should feel very proud of their achievements."
"America's Got Talent" features the judging panel of Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel and host Nick Cannon and currently ranks as the No. 1 Summer reality series on the major non-cable networks, averaging a 3.1 rating and 12.4 million viewers overall. "Last Comic Standing" produced by Wanda Sykes with host JB Smoove and judges Roseanne Barr, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Russell Peters been drawing in a 1.7 rating and 5.1 million viewers. "American Ninja Warrior" finished first in its time slot among the Big Four networks for its last six original episodes beating out "Under the Dome" on CBS.
NBC already has taken over as king of reality singing shows with "The Voice" as they have won the ratings battle the last several years with "American Idol" and the now cancelled "X-Factor" U.S. on FOX. Which shows would you like to see renewed and which shows do you wish would end already?
