Andrew Ripp Shares the Story Behind "Fill My Cup"
Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Andrew Ripp returns today with the release of his new single "Fill My Cup." The song is a prayer for us to invite God to fill us each day with his joy.
Ripp takes the time to tell us how he came to record the song. "The adventure this song went on to eventually make it's way on to my record is unlike any other song I've ever released. "Fill My Cup" was first written and recorded by my good friend Thad Cockrell who is one of my favorite artists of all time and also happens to be a great friend of mine."
"I got in my car one day and my ol' pal bluetooth began magically playing a song that was on my phone without me thinking about it.. as soon as I heard `I've been walking to a city I cannot see' I knew I needed to explore the potential of making this a Ripp tune."
Thankfully, when I brought it up over breakfast with Thad he was equally as jazzed about the idea as I was. The rest is history. Props to my brother Ethan Hulse for helping us write this new version and also producing it in a way that inspires me every time I hear it. I know you don't call yourself a producer but you ARE insane! Thanks for listening and sharing! We hope you enjoy this song as much as we enjoyed making it."
Ripp first broke into the national music scene as a songwriter; his contributions, such as Ryan Cabrera's album, You Stand Watching, have charted on the Billboard Hot 100, Top 40 Mainstream, Pop 100 Airplay, Pop 100, and Hot Digital Songs charts.
As an artist he has released five studio albums. Ripp's second album, She Remains the Same, was released on September 21, 2010, breaking the top 100 on the Billboard new artists chart. His third album, Won't Let Go, was produced by Grammy Award winner Charlie Peacock and was released on April 16, 2013 via Be Music & Entertainment.
Ripp was nominated for a Grammy Award for co-writing the song "Rescue Story" by Zach Williams in 2020.
