Maverick City Music Takes Home NAACP Award for Outstanding Gospel / Christian Album

Maverick City Music has earned the Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album accolade for Kingdom Book One at the 54th NAACP Image Awards, which was announced during a live stream earlier last week. This follows a recent televised performance with Quavoand four wins at the GRAMMY Awards, making the group's career-total five wins. The inspirational collective has had an unrivaled year with wins at the BET Awards, Billboard Awards, Stellar Awards, Dove Awards and more.
'Kingdom Book One' (released 6.17) features Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin recording alongside more than ninety-percent of the residents at Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami, FL, taking the idea of "prison performance" to another level. Joined by men from every walk-of-life - different gangs, races and backgrounds - this whole project evolved from an unfiltered message of love and universal acceptance and became a passionate, powerful movement that embodies the collective's core beliefs of inspiring and helping others.
The full list of awardees will be announced at the NAACP Image Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 25th.
