19-Year-Old Micah E. Clarke Offers a Contemporary Take of "O Holy Night"

Grammy® Award winning audio engineer David Darlington and Dove/Stellar Gospel Music Award winning songwriter David Bratton (who wrote Hezekiah Walker's "Every Praise") are giving the world a gift via Micah E. Clarke's debut holiday recording, "O Holy Night." The contemporary instrumentation brings the 180-year-old tune up to date and provides a platform to show off Clarke's vocal dynamism which has been compared to that of Tevin Campbell, Bryan Andrew Wilson, and B. Slade (aka Tonex). The song will debut on all major digital music platforms on November 3, 2023: http://bit.ly/oholynightmec
The 19-year-old Miami, FL native attends the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where he's an art design student. The young singer's first recording was a tender remake of the Thomas Whitfield classic "We Need a Word from the Lord" in 2020 and a funky rendition of the hymn "At the Cross" in 2022. "I want people to experience music again, timeless music," Clarke says of the new track that shows off his vast vocal range and technique. "I want people to experience that through what the Lord has given me. I want this to transcend generations and barriers-cultures and beliefs, all so that the name of Jesus continues to be glorified throughout the world."
David Darlington is a veteran audio engineer who has mixed or mastered classic albums such as Vanessa Williams' The Comfort Zone, Phyllis Hyman's Prime of My Life, Take 6's One, and Janet Jackson's The Velvet Rope, among many more. He won a Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for the Brian Lynch Big Band's The Omni-American Book Club.
J. David Bratton is a recording artist who's been a session player for a who's who in gospel. He's best-known for writing songs such as Vickie Winans' "How I Got Over" and Rev. Timothy Wright's "House of the Lord." His biggest composition yet, "Every Praise," was recorded by Hezekiah Walker in 2012. The song spent 79 weeks on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart and 27 of them at the No. 1 spot. The song was also nominated for a Stellar Award and won a Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Record of the Year. It was certified platinum for a million in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.) in 2020.
