Here Are Lyrics to Rend Collective's “The Prayer Of St. Patrick”

"The Prayer Of St. Patrick" by Rend Collective is a powerful and moving song based on the famous prayer attributed to St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The prayer, often referred to as "St. Patrick's Breastplate," is a declaration of faith and a plea for God's protection, guidance, and strength. Rend Collective's version brings a contemporary folk-rock twist to the traditional prayer, with energetic instrumentation and harmonies that amplify the sense of devotion and reliance on God's power.
"St Patrick isn't a gimmick to us, but a serious figure in the story of Christianity in the western world. We felt the weight of the task of reimagining one of his most famous hymns, St Patrick's Breastplate, so heavily that we've actually written the song several times and shied away from releasing it at the last minute. Finally in collaboration with Matt Maher, we found a version that we feel honors his legacy. This ancient prayer of protection still feels profoundly relevant today and we hope we bring the essence of the real St Patrick to a modern audience with this release." --- Rend Collective
VERSE 1
I arise today by the mighty strength
Of the blessed trinity
For the three in one, Father, Spirit, Son
Bind my heart with bravery
You're my breastplate and my shield
CHORUS
Christ before me
Christ behind me
Christ within me
All around me
You're the only armor that my soul will ever need
Jesus You're my victory
You're my everything
Amen
VERSE 2
I can face this day by the matchless power
Of the cross and empty grave
For the spirit of resurrecting love
Is alive in me today
You're alive in me today
BRIDGE
My pilot
My captain
My guide and my guardian
Blessed be Your name
My wisdom
My wonder
My father forevermore
Blessed be Your name
