Chris Tomlin Inspires Students During Visit to Pepperdine

Grammy Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin visited Pepperdine this week as the University's inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador. Tomlin engaged with students through mentorship, exclusive discussions, and an unforgettable time of worship.
"I'm excited about everything happening with Pepperdine worship and how God is moving in the students," Tomlin said. "I want to help the next generation. I want to pass the baton forward."
During his time on campus, Tomlin led mentorship sessions with student songwriters from Waves Worship, where he provided guidance on the craft of worship music, shared his career journey, and helped the students workshop a song. He also participated in an exclusive Q&A, answering questions from students about the role of a worship leader, personal faith, how he has dealt with fame as a Christian, and how to discern God's calling.
"It's a blessing our campus has received the chance to host someone who the Lord uses so mightily," said Pepperdine student Jonas Hamilton. "He works hard for the Lord, and receiving mentorship from someone who has spent a long time serving God is really powerful, but especially Chris Tomlin-a musician, who the Lord has used mightily in such an evident way to reach so many different people around the world."
Tomlin's visit culminated in a moving worship service at The Well, Pepperdine's weekly worship gathering, where 500+ students, faculty, and staff experienced a night of powerful worship led by one of Christian music's most recognized voices.
"It's really awesome to just have Chris Tomlin here and to get to see how the fruits of his life have blessed other people," said Pepperdine student Amelia Morden. "Personally, I connect 100 percent with God through music. That's how I found the Lord. So much of Chris Tomlin's music has been fundamental to my experience and to my testimony. It's really cool to get to see that connect full circle, live."
Tomlin's visit is part of his ongoing role as Pepperdine's inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador, a position announced by Pepperdine University President Jim Gash in February. "As a Christian university, we want our students to know Who is worthy of worship and how we can enter into a relationship with the creator of the universe," said Gash. "Chris Tomlin is uniquely positioned to cultivate a heart of worship among our students."
Chris Tomlin is celebrated globally for his contributions to contemporary worship music, with songs such as "How Great Is Our God," "Good Good Father," and "Our God" uniting millions in praise.
