Dr. Bessie Nelson, Mother of Jason and Jonathan Nelson, Passes Away

Dr. Bessie Nelson has passed away today on June 16. She was the mother of renowned gospel artists Pastor Jason Nelson and Minister Jonathan Nelson. The family shared the news via joint message on social media.
They shared, "With humble hearts in agreement with the decision of God, The Nelson family announces the triumphant transition of Dr. Bessie Nelson. We are reassured that to be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord."
Dr. Bessie was the wife to Bishop James D. Nelson Sr., Founder of World Assemblies of Restoration in Maryland. She and Bishop James D. Nelson, Sr. were married for over 60 years.
Together, they had 4 children: Gospel recording artists and twins, Jonathan and Jason Nelson; Bishop James D. Nelson Jr., Pastor of Destiny Christian Church in Baltimore, and their daughter, Janice.
Born with a heart for God and a passion for people, Dr. Nelson spent her life exemplifying Christian love, wisdom, and perseverance. Alongside her late husband, Bishop James D. Nelson Sr., she helped lay the foundation for a family deeply rooted in ministry, worship, and service. Their legacy continues through their children, whose anointed voices and pastoral leadership have touched lives around the world.
To her family, she was far more than a supportive figure-she was the heart and glue, the nurturer of faith, and the quiet strength behind their success. Pastor Jason Nelson, in a touching tribute, described his mother as "the rock of our family," someone who embodied the fruit of the Spirit daily: "She's an exemplar of a mother. Caring. Loving. Supportive. Sweet. Elegant. Beautiful. Prayerful. And fierce when needed."
Her influence was not confined to her home. Dr. Bessie Nelson's wisdom and grace impacted countless lives through her involvement in ministry and community leadership. She was known for her humility, poise, and unwavering commitment to God's word-always offering a kind word, a prayer, or a listening ear to those in need.
Through trials and triumphs, Dr. Nelson maintained a steadfast faith that anchored those around her. Her legacy will continue not only through the voices of her sons but through the many lives she influenced with quiet dignity and unwavering compassion.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children, grandchildren, church family, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly but rejoice in the knowledge that she is now in the presence of the Lord she so faithfully served.
