'The Walking Dead' AMC Season 5 2014 Release Date, New Spoilers & Cast News from Show Producer Teased (VIDEO)
"The Walking Dead" Season 5 premieres on October 12th on AMC and more and more news is coming out.
Zap2it spoke with Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd recently and shared some updates and spoilers, including:
. There's no time jump in Season 5. It will pick up where Season 4 left off.
. The residents of Terminus are called either Termites or the Terminants, which Hurd refers to as a "key component."
. Season 5 will include urban and suburban settings.
. There will be two major story arcs, with one ending at the midseason finale and the other picking up in the second half of the season.
. The survivors will attempt to go to Washington, D.C., but not everyone supports the idea and there may be some dissension among the group.
. Carol is set to play a bigger role in Season 5 than the trailer lets on.
. Daryl won't be in line for romance anytime soon.
. The new season will include whole episodes focusing on specific groups of the survivors.
. Daryl could be in line to survive after all, with Hurd saying, "I do know if there is a zombie apocalypse, I want to be on the back of his bike. That's what I know."
. Though it may not be Daryl, major deaths are definitely to come.
Show-writer Robert Kirkman also dropped insight during Comic-Con that he has a strong idea on when everyone in the show will die off. He stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, Channel 105) while out at Comic Con and they asked him about how tough it is to say goodbye to someone when they are killed off the show. "It's kinda worse than that," says Kirkman. "Because I got a pretty good idea when all of them are dying. To a certain extent, if we follow the comic, like possibly even more than [showrunner] Scott [Gimple] knows."
Kirkman shared (imaginary pointing), "So I'm always like...two years, three years, six months, two weeks, oh, God this is awful! It's really rough. Doing the comic, it was fine because it was just lines on a paper. Whatever. We're killing that guy. Cool. But the show, it sucks because we all work together, we hang out, and have a great time. But, you know, the story's gotta get done and people gots to die, as I like to say. It's pretty rough."
The worst part for Kirkman and Gimple is keeping the cast members in the dark. "You can't tell 'em," says Kirkman. "Because we change our minds all the time. And that's the other really bad thing about it. We can't really give them that much warning because there's always a chance that we'll get into actually writing the scripts after we plan things out and we're like, 'Nope, that character's living.' Which has happened many times. So we don't want to have many false news giving situations."
AMC has released a new trailer for "The Walking Dead" Season 5 and it's intense! The extended three and a half minute long new trailer was unveiled at their 2014 Comic-Con panel.
"The Walking Dead" is off the air currently after a strong fourth season but anticipation for Season 5 is growing and fans want to know what to expect for the upcoming Fall premiere. "You'll see us take some big leaps with the characters and the set pieces," executive producer Gale Ann Hurd said during the panel.
Cast member Norman Reedus, who plays the role of Daryl Dixon revealed some spoilers on what fans can expect in Season 5 of the hit TV show.
"These scripts are the best scripts so far, and I'm really just excited to be back at it. There are a lot of characters right now, so there are a lot of really different personalities on set. And it's super interesting, everyone's really bringing it. It's going great. It's so dynamic because it's so fast-paced and so complicated. It's great to be back," Reedus told Entertainment Weekly.
Reedus also revealed that Rick will be back next season. Also, Executive producer Scott M. Gimple will be returning for season 5. Reedus shares that he thinks that Gimple has the rest of the series planned out but of course will keep it under wraps. Sometimes you can tell in series if the writers are winging it from show to show or season to season or if they have the full story mapped out from the beginning.
The Spoiling Dead Fans revealed that Beth could be making a return in Season 2. The same vehicle that kidnapped Beth was on location during the filming of new episodes. Do you think she will make a return? What are you expecting from the upcoming Season 5? Let us know!
The wait is almost over as "The Walking Dead" Season 5 will premiere on October 12th on AMC.
