Google Acquires Visual Effects Firm Zync for Cloud Platform, Recently Bought Gecko for X Projects
It seems Google is on an acquisition streak this week, as it is confirmed that the company recently bought visual effects firm Zync after buying product design firm Gecko last weekend. It was announced by Google and Zync respectively, with a special message posted on Zync's website further explaining that this new partnership will bring Zync's services to even greater heights.
"Since its inception at visual effects studio ZERO VFX, nearly 5 years ago, ZYNC was designed to not only leverage the benefits and flexibilites inherent in cloud computing, but to offer this in a user-friendly package. Pairing this history with the scale and realibility of Google Cloud Platform will help us offer even better service to our customers - including more scalability, more host packages and better pricing. With a friction-free, affordable, and elastic rendering solution, visual designers and artists in the industry can continue to do their best work."
Zync will now become part of Google's Cloud Platform team and will further the team's efforts on bringing complex special effects while managing costs through rendering the work over the Internet cloud.
The company's special effects technology has been used in blockbuster films such as; "American Hustle," "Transformers," "Looper," "Star Trek Into Darkness," "The Way Way Back," "Zookeeper" and more.
Last week, Google also bought product design firm Gecko intended for its technology-advancing projects.
