Serena movie news: Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper's third collaboration in a Depression-Era North Carolina is creating a buzz for next year's Oscars
If you thought that American Hustle was going to be the last film you'll ever see Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence together, better think again. They've made another era-movie together and this time it is entitled Serena and is set during the Great Depression in North Carolina.
Serena starring Jennifer Lawrence is based on a bestselling novel by Ron Rash which was published in 2008. It will be directed by Susanne Bier, whose movie, In a Better World, was the winner of the 2011 Oscar in the Best Foreign Language film category. Would this role land Cooper and Lawrence yet another award nomination and hopefully an award? It would seem that Tinsel Town's craze for period women, unusual stories and great directors may be the best formula for that possibility but only time will tell. Cooper and Lawrence will be playing the roles of husband and wife George and Serena Pemberton and will follow their lives as they try to build and make their timber empire in North Carolina flourish. Serena spoilers up ahead: this ambition soon turns to madness as Serena herself attempts to protect their interests in any way she could.Things get complicated when they learned that Serena cannot bear children.
Though it has been filmed two years ago, what's only confirmed in the Serena movie is a UK released which is set on October 24 with more European premiere dates to come. In terms of a Serena movie release in the US, there has been no signs of a trailer, a distributor or even a film-festival slot.
