Star Trek 3 2016 Movie Script Done, Waiting for Studio Greenlight To Go Into Production, In time for the 50th year anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's franchise original TV Sci-Fi
Star Trek 3 is still targeted for a 2016 release to make it in time for the 50th year anniversary of Gene Roddenberry's franchise original TV sci-fi classic according to Paramount Pictures and Skydance. However, for Star Trek 3, J.J. Abrams who helmed the first two Star Trek reboot movies will have to pass on the director's hat to writer and fellow producer Robert Orci as he has to focus first on finishing his Star Wars: Episode VII film.
The latest Star Trek 3 news, according to TrekMovie, is that as of August 12, the first draft of Star Trek 2016 is confirmed complete. Orci himself wrote on TrekMovie's comment section that "p & m & I wrote, "fade out" yesterday on first draft. things are moving." followed by "First draft is done." The "p" and "m" stands for co-writers [J.D.] Payne and [Patrick] McKay. Paramount is presumably still going over the draft.
If Paramount approves the draft or at least the general storyline in the draft, the next steps may include finalizing Orci's directing deal, which until now hasn't been done, establishing a budget for the film and setting a more definite release date. Obviously, there is still no official Star Trek 3 trailer at this point since shooting hasn't began and the director hasn't even been officially hired.
Once given the greenlight by Paramount, Orci said that for Star Trek 3, 2015 filming may be started by next spring. At this point, fans already have some inclination as to how the storyline will unfold. In a previous talk with Variety, Orci said, "In this movie, they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space." In 1984, Paramount released Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock. Would that in any way figure in Paramount's reboot Star Trek 3 2016 movie? We'll probably know for sure in the coming days.
