Sons of Anarchy: Back with a vengeance. Season 7 premiered on September 9.
For those who missed the premiere episode of the hit series Sons of Anarchy, Jax Teller is back for the seventh and last season. The last episode of season 6 left him holding his dead wife in his arms and Season 7 seems to take off from right there. It opens with a dank, gloomy atmosphere and remains so throughout the episode, setting the tone for the entire season of 13 episodes.
The episode begins with the hero bashing in a villain's face, etching a swastika into his chest and yanking out two of his teeth. He has just been released from prison by the district attorney. CCH Pounder continues with his emotional weight. Of co Jax has returned just in time, much to the delight of his club members as things are heating up on the street. The Chinese and Mayans have teamed up with Nero against August Marks. The black gangs SAMCRO's best allies at present.
Anticipate lots of Blood and Gore
Jax is preparing himself for it by strengthening alliances and soothing raw nerves, at least for the time being. Meanwhile Wendy has returned from rehab and discovers through Unser that Juice has been hiding in her apartment. The pathetic Juice betrayed Jax and the club by helping the hero's mother Gemma in covering up Tara's murder. Juice's last appearance on screen saw him pointing a gun at Unser.
Gemma is extremely anxious to keep her son from discovering all that she has been up to, including Tara's murder. Her delusion that that she's doing everything for the good of the family and the club is a strong motivator for her character, and Jax believes everything his mother tell him. He also believes her when she tells Jax that she saw a Chinese man leaving the house after Tara got murdered, and Jax is on the lookout for him.
Tight Performances and a Gripping Story
The episode starts quite slowly and a lot of it has Jax playing mental chess, moving the pieces to win a bloody war before it's actually played out on the streets with people stabbing people in the brain. However, it sets the mood for the rest of the season. Charlie Hunman deserves full credit for his solid performance as Jax. In previous seasons he played the chocolate hero to the hilt, supported by the women in his life Tara (Maggie Siff and Gemma (Katey Sagal), who pitched in with their emotional depth.
But this season promises to be much darker. Jax is being crushed by the weight of his responsibilities and conscience, and he is losing hope for the future. But Hunman is terrific in the role of a man in a corner, ready to strike with all he's got. Stay tuned folks; it's just getting interesting.
