LA Lakers Trade Rumors: Steps the Lakers can Take to Rebuild the Team
The Los Angeles Lakers have sled off from a championship contender team over the past few years to a team that is hardly a threat to anyone in the NBA today. This is largely because their biggest star, Kobe Bryant has been hit with injuries causing him to sit out majority of the games in the previous season. On top of that, most of its other stars like Dwight Howard have moved on to other teams.
If Bryant and Nash could not get back in top condition, the Lakers could potentially go down to be one of the weakest teams in the NBA this coming season. But the team management may have already taken stock of this and are taking drastic measures to address this. As proof of this, rumors of trade are circulating with many solid players about to hit free agency before the season begins.
It would be worth looking at how much the team has done to boost up their lineup and what possible steps they can take to enhance it even further. Let's begin with facts and previous adjustments made.
They have made considerable efforts in enhancing their lineup with a number of power forwards added. As of today, they already have Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis all taken from free agency. They also added Julius Randle from the rookie draft. In the point guard position, Jeremy Lin has joined the lineup. However, even on paper this lineup is not that strong.
This coming summer, free agency will have big names like Rajon Rondo, Eric Bledsoe, Ricky Rubio, Greg Monroe, Marc Gasul, and LaMarcus Aldridge. This can be a good opportunity for the Lakers to further boost up their manpower.
Rumor has it that Los Angeles is seriously looking into Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. He can is probably the best guy to take up Nash's role. He is quick with very good eye on the floor and passing ability. Eric Bledsoe and Doran Gragic are also names that the Lakers are considering.
Should they push through with these, along with the adjustments previously done, they could again be a serious contender soon!
