'True Detective' Season 2: Plot and Characters Update
The first season of "True Detective" was such a success that both Woody Harrelson and Matthey McConaughey got nominated for Oscar Awards. However, as soon as that season ended, almost no word came out of the production team as to whether there will be another season and any update thereafter.
Here are what we know to be confirmed info about True Detective Season 2.
HBO has confirmed that the story for season two will follow three police officers and a career criminal as they "navigate around a conspiracy web in the aftermath of a murder".
Collin Farrell has confirmed to take the lead role. He will play Ray Velcoro, an officer whose allegiance is torn between his corrupt superiors in the police force and the mobster boss who owns him. This kind of conflict is just perfect for a lead character and Collin can definitely fit well with it.
"John Carter" movie star Taylor Kitsch has also confirmed to be part of this season's lineup. He will play the character of Police Officer Paul Woodrugh, also one of the three officers. His character and personality is yet to be revealed, though. The third police officer will be a woman, Police Officer Ani Bezzerides. However, the search for the actress who would play the part is still on. There are already talks of names like Jessica Biel included in the show but nothing is official as of yet.
That completes the three police officers. This leads us to the last main role which is the "career criminal" in the person of Frank Semyon. Actor comedian Vince Vaughn will take this role, as confirmed by Variety. He is on the verge of losing the vast empire he has created. This happened when his move to legitimate enterprise resulted to the murder of his business partner. Semyon is the main antagonist of the story. This may prove interesting given that Vaughn will play him.
Director Justin Lin, famous for his work with Fast and the Furious 5, will be at the helm of the production particularly on the first two episodes of the season. The whole season will run about eight episodes in total. Season two production is expected to begin later this fall.
