"The Christmas Cat" by Maryann Macdonald - Book Review

Maryann Macdonald - The Christmas Cat
With lovely illustrations by Amy Jane Bates, critically acclaimed children's author Maryann Macdonald's The Christmas Cat is a sweet and touching picture book that both young children and cat lovers will cherish. Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's drawings of La Madonna del Gatto, which show Mary lovingly holding the baby Jesus who is snuggling a cat, readers will get a glimpse of Jesus as an infant, crying and fussing like all babies do. When Mary and Joseph couldn't settle the babe down, the animals in the manger all try their best, but it isn't until a little ball of kitten fluff climbs up to investigate that the baby is soothed. As Jesus and his kitten grow up, children will be thrilled to know that they continue to be best friends.
The Christmas Cat is a wonderful book to read aloud to children and grandchildren alike during the Christmas holiday season.
