X-Men: Apocalypse Release Date, Spoilers and Other News: To Bring Closure To The 'First Class' Story Lines; But Will Pave Way For New Beginning For The X-Men Franchise
Fox and Marvel's X-Men: Apocalypse movie is green-lit for a May 27, 2016, theater release. Shooting is still to start by April next year so its way too early to expect an X-Men: Apocalypse trailer nor an X-Men: Apocalypse movie wiki fan site at this point. One thing that is clear though is that Bryan Singer is attached to direct the film from a script which Simon Kinberg will be co-writing with Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty.
As far as X-Men Apocalypse news is concerned, Kinberg already revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse will take place in 1983 and that it will complete a trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class. In a talk with Yahoo!Movies, he said: "The thrust of 'Apocalypse' is really to complete the trilogy we began with 'First Class' - to complete the stories of young Raven, young Hank, younger Charles and Erik. And complete this trilogy of four people who began the films sort of disparate and in different worlds...[and who] we've followed through the span of decades. So that'll be the thrust. There will be familiar characters and new characters that we haven't seen...ever...but it'll be the completion of what we began in 'First Class'."
Regarding the X-Men: Apocalypse characters to be seen in the upcoming film, Kinberg says, "... I cannot confirm or deny which characters will actually be in 'Apocalypse' until I read some spoilers! [Although] The 'Apocalypse' story is a bigger film in scope or scale and a more powerful villain than we have ever seen in these films before." In another interview withSuperhero Hype, he maintained: "We want to tell the Apocalypse story and there's massive scale and scope to telling that story. There's going to be set pieces that I suspect are going to be bigger than anything we've ever done in an X-Men movie before and he's a great character. The biggest and funniest challenge of the Apocalypse movie to me is his character. How do you create a new villain for the X-Men world that is as good as any villain that's come before, is compelling philosophically as Magneto, not just in his physical powers, but in his philosophical depth. 'Apocalypse' is going to be a fun movie to write and make."
So who is Apocalypse? In the Marvel X-Men Apocalypse comics, he was born 5000 years ago in Akkaba in Ancient Egypt with the mutant X-gene, which possibly made him the first human mutant. Because of his gray skin, blue lips and body markings, he was abandoned as a child by his people. He was rescued and raised by Baal who named him En Sabah Nur or "The First One." He has a vast number of super powers, including regenerative abilities which render him virtually immortal.
In X-Men: Apocalypse, Four Horsemen (Pestilence, Famine, War and Death) from the comic books may also be expected to be seen since they were shown in silhouette in the X-Men: Days of Future Past teaser after the credits.
