Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Episode 2 Reviews, Reveals and Spoilers: Idaho and Hartley Dead, Hunter Recruited to go after Coulson
The second episode picks up where the premiere left off when Lance Hunter is trapped in his vehicle after it crashed into the Absorbing Man. May finds him and tries to help him but he send her after Creel. Still she leaves him a device to cut himself free. He gets loose but just then Talbot's soldiers arrive and take him into custody. He is taken to Talbot. They are talking in the hunter and Talbot is recounting his military past and wondering how he ended up as a mercenary. Talbot tells Hunter that he wants Coulson in custody who he considers to be too dangerous.
Apparently, there is also a wealthy senator that very much wants Coulson in handcuffs. Then he drops the carrot that Coulson was ready to sacrifice Hartley and Idaho who were Hunters partners that died at the end of the premiere while on the mission. Hunter agrees but for a fee of 2 million dollars and a proper burial for Hartley and Idaho. As such, this season is no different than the last in terms of betrayals and twists especially from the team members where they question the mission in relation to the one who giving the orders and their motives. At the same time, it seems that Coulson is compartmentalizing too much as he does not respond to the deaths of Idaho and Hartley outright. Obviously, these are just some of the needs of his new job.
Fitz is also struggling with the level of his importance at SHIELD and he reflects with 'Simmons', about how close he was to cracking cloaking. He realizes that he is going to prove his worth to the team if he is able to figure out how to neutralize the abilities of Creel's Absorbing Man. He finds the DNA results of Creel sitting on a printer and he takes them.
