'Ghostbusters 3': The film is expected to begin filming next year, but no official release date has been revealed.
"Ghostbusters" is a 1984 American supernatural comedy film directed and produced by Ivan Reitman and written by Dan Aykrod and Harold Ramis. According to the sources, Harold Ramis was set to be involved in the Ghostbusters 3 but he passed away in February.
After so many years, the long-awaited sequel to "Ghostsbusters" was made official today. Paul Feig tweeted the announcement, saying that the Ghostbusters 3 is underway with writer Katie Dippold writing the script. "It will star hilarious women," the tweet reads.
However, after Harold Ramis passed away the fans agreed that the sequel would not be the same without him. According to the sources, Feig, who has been connected with the new "Ghostbusters" for several months now as Ivan Reitman, who directed the original movie and Ghostbusters II, dropped out of directing "Ghostbusters 3" in March. As the Feig's tweet indicated, the new Ghostbusters will be female. But it is still not confirmed whether the original cast will be involved and how they will be involved if they are.
As the rumours say the new movie will not be a sequel. In a interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feig said, "he wants to restart it because then he can have new dynamics in the movie". After confirming the Ghostbuster 3 will be a origin story, Feig said that "we have a very rough, rough outline that we're working with, but definitely know the basic story, know what we want the basic characters to do, know what we want the world to do and what the rules of our world are, but nothing I want to discuss obviously".
Everyone is very curious to know who will make up the female cast. As mentioned by the Feig in his tweet she will be hilarious. At the Toronto International Film Festival, the Toronto star reported that Murray would like to see McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Linda Cardellini, and Emma Stone in the Ghostbusters 3 if he had his druthers.
These questions will have their answers in no time. Currently, the film is expected to begin filming next year, but no official release date has been revealed.
