'Archer Season 6': Goodbye, ISIS; 'The Talk' Host Aisha Tyler Takes Selfie With 'Scandal' Star Bellamy Young
FX series "Archer" has kissed ISIS goodbye for obvious reasons.
For the past five seasons, the story of the animated spy comedy television show revolved around the underground spy organization called ISIS (International Secret Intelligence Service), which is based in New York City.
Returning for its sixth season in Jan. 2014, "Archer" features spy matriarch Malory Archer voiced by Jessica Walter on the premiere episode speaking on the phone with her son, Sterling, voiced by H. Jon Benjamin while two movers are rolling out a large ISIS sign in the background.
After the recent controversies involving ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), "Archer" creator Adam Reed and executive producers Matt Thompson and Casey Willis ISIS along with the Emmy-nominated series' creative team decided to drop the acronym ISIS.
"We quietly did," Reed told The Daily Beast explaining they were lucky that they were able to "organically make a merger with the CIA," although they had to go back to some parts of the series to retroactively paint out the ISIS logos, and to cut ISIS from the dialogues.
They edited the version of the "Archer Season 6" premiere episode aired at San Diego Comic-Con in July, with the character Malory Archer explaining to her agent-son that the CIA are their new overlords.
According to Thompson, "South Park" would simply add scenes with characters saying their name was stolen by the Islamic State "but that's not the way the 'Archer' universe works, where it's all our own creations."
At Comic-Con in New York, Willis said Islamic State does not exist in their universe, The Guardian reported.
"Now, (the characters are) working with the CIA, so that's the banner that we're under now," Willis said.
On March 6, FX renewed "Archer" for sixth and seventh seasons, each with 13 episodes.
Meanwhile, Aisha Tyler, who voices "Archer's" top female agent, Lana Kane, recently took a selfie with "Scandal" actress Bellamy Young and was photobombed by Sara Gilbert.
The "Archer" actress is known for taking selfies with "The Talk" guests.
Young recently visited the CBS talk show, co-hosted by Tyler and Gilbert with Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen.
