Asus MeMo Pad 10 ME103K: Speakers with Built-in SonicMaster Technology Included
Last Sunday, Asus incorporated their refreshed version of 2013's MeMo Pad 10 ME102A into the new Asus MeMo Pad 10 ME103K, for an introductory price of US$199. Upon the initial release date, the 2014 unit is being sold in either White or Black color options.
The Asus ME103K is operated by Android 4.4 KitKat and is only available in a Wi-Fi variant, which does not include SIM support. The features include a 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800-pixel, WXGA IPS LED-backlit display, with multi-touch 10-point support. The ME103K package also consists of a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon Pro Processor, bundled together with 1GB RAM.
In terms of image-capture functionailty, users of the ME103K tablet can access the rear 2MP camera, which can also provide a 5MP capacity when used in combination with several special modes. Asus has also covered the front end of the device, with the inclusion of a 0.3MP camera.
Users will also enjoy a comfortable sense of freedom, as the battery is capable of 19 watts per hour, and Asus has promised users a MeMo Pad 10 battery life of 9.5 hours. The tablet itself weighs 525 grams and its dimensions are measured at 256mm x 174mm x 9.9mm.
Asus' new ME103K model comes with a range of built-in storage capacities for the needs of different users—32GB, 16GB and 8GB—all of which are expandable through the use of a MicroSD card that can increase the tablet's capacity by as much as 64GB. Additionally, the company is offering 5GB of SUS web storage, which could be used for a lifetime of space in combination with 11GB of additional space each year.
The numerous connectivity options for the ME103K include Miracast, GLONASS, GPS, 4.0 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (3G and LTE were not mentioned).
Last year's MeMo ME102A Pad 10 was built with: an IPS 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 80 pixels; a front 1.2MP camera; a rear 2MP camera; 1GB of RAM; a quad-core 1.6GHz processor; and 6GB and 8GB internal storage variants—both expandable to 64GB via MicroSD. In comparison, the 2013 model weighs 522 grams and measures 256mm x 174.6mm x 10.5mm.
Finally, Asus has made its Memo Pad 10-inch slate official, according to a report from Grabi. This is the company's latest and most enhanced tablet in their line of Memo Pads, and will be offered for a more affordable price with modest specs. To make matters more attractive, Asus is including a set of stereo speakers with built-in SonicMaster technology as part of the package, for the same price.
