'EDGE OF TOMORROW' Movie Starring Tom Cruise Showcases The Virtue of Courage
One of the blockbuster films of the Summer of 2014 is "The Edge of Tomorrow", starring Tom Cruise (as Major William Cage) and Emily blunt (as Rita Vrataski). "The Edge of Tomorrow" is an action-packed sci-fi flick with alien monsters and thrilling special effects. The story centers around an army officer, Major William Cage, who does everything he can to stay clear of active combat duty in the war against giant mechanized monster's who threaten the very existence of our country. Major Cage will perform as many different non-combative duties as he possibly can without getting involved in the actual conflict with the terrorizing machines that threaten to destroy us. The last thing Major Cage wants to do is suit up in some futuristic, mechanized military uniform and go into the fight!
As the battle deepens and the fight becomes more desperate, Major Cage finds himself being slowly pushed into the battle for wish he did not want to be involved in personally. A key player in Major Cage's life at this point in the movie is Master Sergeant Farell (Bill Paxton), who exhorts Major Cage to throw himself into the fight telling him that his involvement in the combat will be his "baptism by fire"--that is, a chance to purge himself of past wrongdoings and become a new man of character and courage.
As Major Cage is pulled into the fight, he finds himself teaming up with Rita Vrataski who helps him find the courage, resolve, and determination to fight the aliens so that a better day will come. There are many action-packed scenes, and lots of drama throughout the movie. What many moviegoers will go away with, however, is the transformation that takes place in Major Cage's life as he sheds his ugly clothing of "coward", to put on the virtuous uniform of "courage"!
