"American Horror Story Freak Show": Relive Freaking Horror, Time Travel to 1950s
The brain behind the new show "American Horror Story", Ryan Murphy, surprised his fans with the announcement of the show. Set in Jupiter, Florida in 1952, the series centers on one of the few remaining freak shows during the period.
The most grotesque about the "American Horror Story: Freak Show" is that it did not happen as soon as possible. It went directly to its passion scrutiny and festivity of the outcasts from the society. "Freak Show," which is set in the 50s also suggests a come back to the murky drama of "Asylum" than the modernized "Coven." Considering that "Coven" got the show's highest ranks and received most awards like Emmy, "Horror Story" possibly has a chance to compete. This is because people love something that thrills them, something that excites them.
The hour-long premiere episode of the show airs for 90 minutes, including timeslot with commercials. More than that, the episode just revolved with three main cast members. They are leading lady Jessica Lange as Elsa Mars, a freak show owner and a German emigrant; Evan Peters as Jimmy Darling aka "Lobster Boy," Elsa's right-hand who has fused together fingers; and most remarkably, Sarah Paulson in the dual role of Bette and Dot Tattler, who are conjoined twins. The production looks like they carefully thought of the castings for the show. Other members of the cast include Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett, Michael Chiklis, Denis O'Hare, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, and Finn Wittrock.
Elsa finds out the actuality of the Tattlers in their local Florida newspaper. The freak show owner then invites the parapsychological duo to join her traveling show. Well, this invitation thrills jolly Bette more than the uneasy Dot. The two do not particularly relish a diversity of career choices.
The shows most highlighted subplot is the homicidal clown Twisty, played by special guest star John Carroll Lynch. Twisty is a mute monster, independently in service for the freak show. He is also liable for an ongoing run amok that frightens the area. Since he has a hulking form, grimy outfit, and very large long-lasting prankster smirk, he becomes an epitome of a complete nightmare once he steps onscreen. While the Tattler twins appear as the most titillating getaway character, Twisty positions the element of horror in "Horror Story".
Director Ryan Murphy told Orlandosentinel, "This is our biggest and most moving year. I think you'll agree this is our most exciting year yet. Get your freak on!" It looks like Murphy teases the viewers in his statement.
Get ready to experience the horror. "American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on Oct. 8, 2014 at 10PM on FX network.
